At the car wash....

I am not normally one to be superstitious, but we had the worst Friday the 13th ever….here goes the story.

About a week earlier Kody and had a small accident pulling a trailer off the mountain for work and did a small amount of damage to his truck nothing major. On Friday the 13th he spent most of the morning cleaning it out, detailing the inside, vacuuming, ect.  so he could take it to the body shop to get fixed. So after he was done cleaning we all got in the truck so we could take it through the car wash that Briley always calls the octopus. It is a soft touch car wash that we have been through plenty of times before. As we are sitting in the car wash Kloe is already a little nervous because of how loud it is and it didn’t get any better from there.

All within a matter of twenty seconds Kody’s gas tank in the back of his truck got the hose ripped off, turned on the diesel(and it was spraying out the side of the truck). Then we head some loud banging noise and then all of a sudden the back windshield shattered right above Kloe’s head and the nozzle on the fuel tank got turned into the window and started pouring into the truck and on top of Kloe’s head. We flew out the the car wash while it was still washing our car and I ripped Kloe out of her car seat. Glass just flew everywhere and Kloe was dripping in fuel. Both kids were screaming and totally freaked out just like their parents. Kody tried to clean out the truck as fast as he could while I was trying to calm down the kids. We all got back in the truck and drove to a friends house where I was able to give Kloe a bath. After lots of hours of Kody cleaning and a few phone calls to poison control everyone was settled at safe. The fate of the truck is still up the air but luckily our family is all well.

Now I know what your thinking you just can’t make this stuff up and it is a crazy story, well that is what happened. We ended up having to throw away lots of clothes, shoes, diaper bag, and two car seats. All I could think about for the few days after it happened was how bad the situation could have been and how grateful I was that it all turned out as good as it could have been. Although having days like that totally suck it always reminds me that we are being looked over and protected. I am so grateful that my girls are safe although they might not ever want to go through a car wash again. Now if you are laughing it ok, Kody and I decided that because a week has gone by it can be one of those stories that you tell and laugh about because hey what else can you do at this point.

If anyone is curious on how you get the smell of diesel out of hair it takes about 7 washes, a few cans on coke, baking soda, and coconut shampoo. Not something I wish upon anyone but you never know when you might need it.
