In California

We were able to take a much needed break from life and spend six days in California. We went down to visit some of Kody's cousins that we hadn't seen in almost two years. Last time they saw our girls Briley still was just a little girl and Kloe was sick and hadn't even had her heart surgery yet. This time however our girls were soaking up the warm weather and the love the grandma Linda and grandpa Clark wanted to give them. We were able to relax the first few days and just enjoy the little danish town of Solvang. We spent one day down in Santa Barbra shopping, enjoying the zoo, and the beach. Kloe was so excited when she saw the water and started running to put her cute little feet in. When she finally reached the water you could tell by the look on her face that she was not expecting it to be as cold as it was. It was so cold, that when it went up past her ankles she wanted nothing to do with it so she sat down. The tide was still coming in so then her butt was in the water, and by the shocked look on her face it was just as cold on her butt as it was on her feet. She didn't want her butt to be cold so she laid down and by that time her whole back and head were in the water. It all happened to fast but it was so funny to watch. After that she wanted nothing to do with the water but was perfectly happy playing in the sand with her big sister. Hopefully we didn't traumatize her so that she never wants to swim again.

It is funny to go outside of Utah and see how people react to Kloe. There was this one waitress at Paula's pancake house who just loved Kloe and when we had finished eating and were getting ready to go she even asked if she could hold her for a minute. It was really sweet. I learned that there is so much love and acceptance no matter where you are in the world. How could you not love a sweet little girl who will wave at you until you wave back and if you don't do it fast enough then she will just scream to get your attention.

Some of the sweetest moments were just seeing how much Kody's family just loves Kloe. Grandpa Clark could hardly even put Kloe down and wasn't very good at sharing her but it was adorable. He even got her to say "there's the buck" as she pointed to Clark's animals in the garage. On Sunday the whole family came over to have a BBQ and it was so wonderful to see how much everyone cares and loves Kloe. It shouldn't surprise me as much as it does every time but I think because it is a different kind of love people have for her just warms my heart. We had such an amazing time and we look forward to going to back as soon as possible.
